Ellis Album, Photo 64 – Margaret

ELLIS, Mary Margaret, portrait as adult
Mary Margaret Ellis

Margaret is my Grandma.  Isn’t she beautiful?  Can’t you see how kind she was by looking into her eyes?  I sure miss her.

In our home, Grandma Margaret is a beloved and special ancestor.  My older two boys met her, but they were very young when she passed.  My oldest has one vague memory of her.  My youngest was born eight years after she passed.  Despite that, he knows exactly who Grandma Margaret is.  We have several framed pictures of her throughout our home.

Recently, my little first-grader came home from school excited to tell me that a new girl was going to be in his class very soon and her name is Margaret.  He was more excited about her name than anything.  Ever since she arrived I regularly hear her name crop up when talking to my little guy.  He loves her simply because she shares a name with our precious Grandma Margaret.

Connections to our ancestors are powerful.  One of the easiest ways to help children feel connected is through photos and stories.  And so I will keep on digitizing, preserving, and sharing photos.  My efforts are having an impact and that is exactly why I love what I do!  ❤️
