Photograph Showcase: Another Image Upgrade from a Negative ❤️

Isn’t this photo of my 2nd great-grandparents beautiful?

❤️❤️❤️

It was in a small bundle of negatives my Mom left with me a few years ago.  I recently scanned it and was so delighted by the clarity of the image.  It’s not the original negative.  I believe it is a negative created by my great-grandfather, the son of this couple, by taking a photo of the original photo.  When I first worked with this image I was so happy to see a better version of a photo I already had.  But when I tried to find the “other” version I realized it was actually a different shot from the same photo shoot.  This is the photo I had before:

Both are lovely.  But I am so happy with this new photo!

I spent a little time cleaning it up.  Here is the original scan of the negative:

Happy Thursday, I hope you make a fantastic photo discovery this week!  xoxo

ps – I was scheduled to have cataract surgery today but it was moved to next week.  I’m nervous and excited.  Here’s hoping it goes well!  (I’m a big fat chicken, so it’s probably going to take A LOT of deep breaths for me to make it to the actual moment of surgery.)

  1. That is a lovely image, both of them are.

As to your upcoming surgery, you’ll be fine. Don’t worry. My spouse had cataract surgery earlier this year and was all on edge then found it wasn’t worth all the fuss. It’ll be so much better after it’s over and you realize how improved your vision is.

    1. Thank you! <3

I know people do it every day, but surgery stresses me out. This will be my 6th surgery, but first eye surgery. I always have some sort of weird something or other so I get extra nervous. And my eyes?! Eek! Scary. But thank you for the reassurances. I'm sure it will be fine. I just need to keep myself distracted. Worrying doesn't do me any good. 😉

  2. How did you accomplish your “cleaning”?

The surgery will be fine. I haven’t done it myself, but my husband has had many eye surgeries, including both for cataracts. Best wishes!

    1. I edited the photo using Photoshop. It’s my go-to. I know lots of people use other less expensive, or even free, editing options, but I love the results from Photoshop.

Thank you! I know I shouldn’t worry – and I’m trying not to – but I’m a worrier. So I just need to keep myself busy and distracted. 😉

  3. The photo is beautiful. Like a previous commenter, I also wondered about her hairdo. I wonder if it was all her hair, or it she had some sort of foundation that she covered with hair.
