Oh my goodness! Isn’t my Grandma absolutely adorable?! She is the wee one in the middle. Really, they are all adorable. I love all of the details in this beautiful portrait, one of my favorites has to be Grandma’s shoes. I’ve never seen shoes quite like them before – so many cute little straps.
Beth was born in 1919, Dale in 1922, and Grandma in 1927. All three have passed. Grandma went first in 2004, then Beth in 2011, then Dale in 2014. I had never seen this photo before. What a treasure!
Here are the first two pages of the album to give context for this photo:
This post is part of a series sharing this wonderful old family photo album. You can learn more about the album here.
Such beautiful children! It must be amazing to be able to see your grandmother as a child.
Thank you, Amy! Yes, it really is. I’ve seen very few photos of her as a child (um, in comparison to my other Grandma which I am right now realizing is the worst yardstick ever since my other Grandma’s parents were photographers…), so finding this album has been a special treat.
Enjoy every one of those pictures!
I will! ❤️
You like all those straps on her shoes. Whoever had the job of buckling them probably did not.
Haha! I bet you are right. Although at her age, I’m hoping her mom chose the shoes and was okay with dealing with them. But maybe not!
I wonder if she or her mother had to use a button hook to button up her shoes?
Probably! It looks like four buttons per shoe to me. I bet it took a while.
I think ladies who wore boots with buttons could do them up really fast with a button hook.
I wonder if Grandma held still…? 🙂
LOL! You knew her … what do you think?
Haha! Well, she was very proper so maybe…? But I knew her as a Grandma, hardly the same. But somehow, I still imagine her being quite obedient. 😉
So fortunate that everyone is identified. I have an album from the 1920s filled with unidentified people. Sigh.
Oh! That is a disappointment. Do you know who created it? Sometimes that can help.
Yes my grandmother created it. Most are photos when she came to the USA in early 1920s and photos from Europe in 1930s.
Well, maybe, you will be able to sort some of it out with time. I have several unidentified photos that I have been able to identify lately because of other items I’ve come across. What if you have some precious ancestor photos mixed in there?! Good luck! ❤️
My sister and I have been able to do that with a few. But many more to go.
I wish you very good luck in your efforts. <3
