This beautiful photo of these lovely young children is a mystery to me. The back of the photo reads this:
Searching for Darrell & Lynn Wardsworth got me nowhere. But when I took the “r” out of Wardsworth and searched for Darrell Wadsworth, I found a family with a Darrell and a brother named Lynn. On FamilySearch, Darrell and Lynn even have this same photo! It appears that I found the right people.
But the question remains – why is their photo in my great-grandma’s album? I can’t find a family connection. I’ve looked for other connections – were they neighbors, did they grow up together, were they distant cousins…? I can’t find any connection.
What I do know is that Great-grandma Ellis must have cared about this family to include this lovely photo in her album.

Maybe it came with a Christmas Card….. I save all photos from Christmas cards and now have close to 40 years of some families……
That seems very possible! I wonder if I’ll find more clues in her other albums that I haven’t even had time to open yet. 😉
it looks like the two lines of text were written by different hands. What a fascinating mystery. I hope you can solve it 😀
Oh interesting, I hadn’t noticed that. I just thought maybe it was written on at different times by Grandma Ellis. I wonder if you are on to something… Maybe I’ll get some additional clues in her other albums that I haven’t had time to even open yet. 😉
I hadn’t thought of your great grandma writing it at a different time!! What struck me was the “Mr & Mrs …” suggests the relationship wasn’t all that close, or that there was a generational difference.
Oh, interesting observation! She was very proper, she called everyone by a title of some sort. Even children were “Master” and “Mistress” to Grandma Ellis. So I hadn’t thought much of the “Mr & Mrs”. I wonder if I should rethink that…?
If that was her way, then you can probably disregard my observation. 😀
Haha, no, it brings up a good point that I had a bias because of what her normal was. Even the most regimented of people aren’t perfectly consistent, we are human after all. 😉
