This album page features two photos of my great-grandmother, Blanche Octavia Huband. Each photo showcases what were likely fairly ordinary moments in her rural life.
The first photo includes a horse. The caption reads, “Mrs. Claude Ellis & Nig. North Ogden Feb 10 – 1918.” It appears “Nig.” is an abbreviation for the name of the horse. I am so curious about the full name of that horse! Hopefully, a cousin will know the answer and enlighten me.

The second photo displays a rather large haystack, and if you look closely, a few chickens on the left. Seeing Grandma Ellis next to that haystack creates a new visual for the old saying about finding a needle in a haystack!

This post is part of a series sharing this wonderful old family photo album. You can learn more about the album here. A digital version of this photo album can be viewed on Flickr here.
Happy Monday, I hope you and your loved ones are happy, safe, and healthy! xoxo
