Photograph Showcase: “Will Moffat”

MAFFIT, William
William T Maffit

This beautiful portrait comes from an album created by Georgya Mabel Clare Brouillette.  Georgya is my first cousin four times removed.  She was the daughter of Nelson Brouillette and Margaret Goff.  Her paternal grandparents were my 4th great-grandparents, Landrie Brouillette and Marie Emelie Fortin.

Georgya’s granddaughter Margaret, recently mailed this lovely portrait to me.  In the album, her grandmother had labeled the photo with, “Will Moffat.”

“Will Moffat” is my 2nd great-granduncle who was named William T Maffit.  William was the son of my 3rd great-grandparents Seth Potter Maffit and Esther Brouillette.  He was the older brother of Seth Maffit, my 2nd great-grandfather.  William and Georgya were first cousins.

I have many photos of my 2nd great-grandfather Seth Maffit, but this is the first photo in my collection for one of his siblings.  I was so delighted to receive this beautiful and well cared for photograph of William.  Thank you to my dear cousin Margaret for sharing!!

Happy Thursday, I hope you will scan and share a precious photograph today!!  xoxo

  1. Bonjour! So happy in finding this! Telesphore Brouillette is a cousin of mine. Through his Mother Marie Emelie Fortin Brouillette we share a common ancestor of Nicolas Roussin b: 1640. How can I get a copy of the book, “Reminiscences of My Life and Times” ? My French Canadian ancestors settled in St. George, Kankakee County, Illinois during the 1840’s.
