RootsTech 2020 Keynote Speakers

 

RootsTech is about one month away and the final keynote speaker was announced today!

 

Leigh Anne Tuohy, the mother whose story is told in the book and movie “The Blind Side,” will kick things off on Thursday.  I have seen the movie once and found the story so inspiring.  I can’t wait to hear about this amazing family and their experiences right from Leigh Anne herself.

David Kennerly will speak on Friday.  I am sooooooo looking forward to hearing him speak!  He was the Chief Official White House Photographer during Gerald Ford’s presidency.  He has photographed every sitting President since Richard Nixon.  He also won a Pulitzer Prize for photos he took during the Vietnam War.  I love the 52 photos he chose to highlight in this photo essay; and this video is an awesome, brief preview of what we can expect from David.  I can’t wait to see more of his beautiful images and hear about the incredible events he has witnessed during his life!

Ryan Hamilton will perform on Friday evening.  I was not previously familiar with him, but he is, apparently, a very funny comedian.

Emmitt Smith will be the final keynote speaker on Saturday.  I’m not a big sports fan so I don’t have any excitement about the football aspect of his life, but I LOVED his Who Do You Think You Are? episode and totally relate to him as a human being going a journey of discovery to understand his family story.

 

What a fantastic lineup!

 

I love that I can already see some cool themes that will run through the conference just based on these keynote speakers.  I am equally delighted in the uniqueness of each keynote speaker.  This is going to be great!

RootsTech usually live streams the keynote sessions and then usually adds videos of those sessions to their website after RootsTech is over.  So if you can’t be there in person, but one of those speakers is catching your eye, watch for information about the live stream schedule as we get closer to RootsTech!
