This lovely photo is another gem from the small group of photos that Aunt Barbara sent home with my sister for me to scan. I have had a similar photo for many years. But it was scanned a long time ago on an all-in-one scanner and has far less detail. This copy is so nice.
This group of loved ones are all related to my great grandmother, Mary Brown Young. She is the wife, daughter, sister, or mother of each person in this image.

Lovely! What kind of scanner do you use now? I have an all-in-one and an old flatbed scanner (that I no longer use).
I use a nice flatbed scanner at my local family history center. It can scan at a really high resolution and has the ability to scan negatives, slides, photos, etc, AND it can scan to .tiff, which is my preference.
I have no idea what my flat bed can do, but it is old, cumbersome, and probably not very sophisticated. The all in one can only do jpg or pdf. But then I don’t have many photos, just documents, so it doesn’t matter as much.
I’m sure your all in one does a great job for your documents. If you are happy with the
photos, that is all that matters. ❤️

Thank you, Teresa! It is the mid to late 1930s. It wasn’t dated, but the children were born in the late 20s. I’m so glad that one of my great uncle’s wives told us who each of the children are – I wouldn’t have known which boy was which without her help. It’s so important to talk to our oldest family members and record what they tell us! <3

Every time I read your Photograph Showcase posts I am reminded of the box of slides sitting on my desk in the office I use mainly for storage. Mom gave them to me at the beginning of the year. I scanned them a dozen years ago at low resolution (they looked good at the time). I want to scan them at a higher resolution before she offers them to one of the other four. Then I’ll have to ask her to loan me her photo albums again since [same story]. When will I ever find the time???
I’m glad to know that I’m not the only one with an office that has turned into a storage room. hehe. I need to work on that!
