My Grandma looks so happy in this photo! I wonder what occasion had her looking so fancy?

It looks like she was dressed for a very formal wedding! Do you know who might have been getting married in May 1954?
I don’t! I just checked her maternal aunts and uncles and didn’t see a marriage for that time. They didn’t have contact with her paternal aunts and uncles so I didn’t check those. I have been wondering if it was just a “glamour shot.” I have so many photos for this part of my family that I’m just happy that most of them are dated. Very few also have notes about the occasion which leads me to believe there may not have been one for this photo. But who know?! 🙂
How old was she? Could it have been a friend’s wedding? A cousin’s?
She was 22, so very possibly. Although she didn’t have any cousins around. Maybe something on her husband’s side of the family?
Or just a friend.
Or possibly prom? What a wonderful photo!
Thank you, Marian! Hmmm… maybe prom, if she was a chaperone. She was married with two children when this was taken. I wonder when her brother graduated, maybe she chaperoned his prom…?
Hollywood glamour! My first thought when I saw the photo. You don’t mention her age so I checked your previous posts and saw she was just short of turning 22. She’s beautiful.

Thank you, Nancy! Yes, I suppose it could be a special event. Although my Grandma was more of a hunter/outdoorswoman than a formal event attender so I’m a bit puzzled. 😉
