My name is Amberly.
I love genealogy.
I wish I could remember the precise moment when I knew that, but I don’t. I do know that there were several beginnings. Each one opening my mind and heart to a different aspect of genealogy joy.
I can happily give credit for the most important of those beginnings to my grandmothers. One of them for curling up with a very young girl and looking through photo albums for hours at a time. Her painstaking preservation efforts on display for me while with loving patience she told me the same stories over and over. The other grandmother for handing an older me boxes of ‘stuff’ and answering my countless questions.
After fifteen years of genealogy work I can tell you there are always beginnings.
A new website. A new technique. A new record collection. A new language. A new branch. A new tiny leaf on my tree. No matter how much I learn there is always more to discover. It is all out there waiting for me to find it.
So as this new year, and this new blog begin, let me help you find a few beginnings.
Let’s do a little genealogy.
I love that you still call it geneaology and not Family History! I still remember singing the primary song as a little girl thinking how awesome it was to have your name in a song at church. 😉 I need lots of help so I look forward to learning from you!
