Black Ellis Album #1, Page 30

This album page is unlabeled. The first photo is of a darling little girl. The photo is loosely secured with photo corners. I was able to gently ease the photo out of the album. The back of the photo reads, “Mildred Hill as she appeared at the announcement party.” Mildred is my second cousin twice removed. She was the daughter of Maude Grace Bevans. Maude is my great-grandmother’s first cousin. My great-grandmother created this album. The handwriting is unfamiliar to me. It seems likely that the notation was made by Maude or one of her family members who then sent the photo to my great-grandmother. I wonder what the announcement party was for?

The second photo is glued into the album. I don’t recognize these women. Hopefully one of my Grandma’s cousins will!

    1. I think it might be Margaret Bevans’ engagement party. The timing is right. Margaret was my great-grandma’s first cousin who appears in lots of photos. They were very close. The little one here is Margaret’s niece. Margaret’s family lived in California and my great-grandma’s family lived in Utah. Many things in their respective albums appear to have been sent with letters to each other.
