Aren’t my aunt and uncle adorable?!
This is another 11×17″ portrait that I recently scanned. It was taken in 1954 by my great-grandmother, Hope Estelle Maffit Duval. I’ve been wondering if the star was crafted out of tin foil. What do you think?
The last several Decembers this photo has been on display in my piano room. Do you like to use vintage family photos as holiday decorations?
Happy Thursday, I hope you find a precious family photo to preserve and share today!
Beautiful photo—was your GGM a professional? They sure are adorable!
Thank you, Amy. Yes, she was. They had a portrait studio in their home for many, many years. Towards the end of my great grandmother’s life it began transitioning to a Bead Shop and was a bit of a combo for a while. After her death, my great grandfather threw out the photography stuff and my Grandma ran the Bead Shop.
Well, she was obviously an excellent photographer! Too bad he threw out her cameras. 🙁
Thank you, Amy. She really was. I don’t know if he got rid of the cameras, but for sure he got rid of photos and negatives. My mom, grandma, and other family members rescued family photos and negatives. I think he was just so grief stricken after watching her die a long, horrible death from cancer that he took his grief out on their studio.
How terribly sad. I am glad the photos were rescued—for everyone’s sake.
Thank you, Amy. <3
So darn cute!!!
🙂
What a totally fabulous photo. I’d have it on display all year round. 🙂
That’s exactly what I was thinking!
Thank you, Debi! 🙂
Thank you, Su! 🙂
That’s lovely! 🙂
Thank you, Val! 🙂
