Goodbyes

african proverb

My heart is breaking.  I am away for a painful last goodbye to one of my precious libraries who is, of course, so much more than a library to me.

Suddenly this quote has more meaning than ever before.

gg, guy black quote

If you still have parents or grandparents you can call, tell them you love them today.

  1. I am so sorry, Amberly. I saw your post on Facebook, which was so loving and so moving. I left a comment there, but wanted to also leave one here. You are in my heart and thoughts.

    1. Thank you Amy, it was a surprise that everything went so fast. We were told two weeks on Thursday. It was much faster than that. I’m so glad I packed up and drove 10 hours to be there. A tender time for sure.

  2. My condolences, Amberly. I know well the loss of older family members and the wealth of knowledge we lose when they leave us. None of my older family members would let me record the stories of their lives and their knowledge of other family members. Keeping you and yours in my prayers.

  3. Reblogged this on Lineage Hunter and commented:
An important reminder to get those older family members to write down or record the family stories, memories of other family members and life events before they are lost to those of us still here.

  4. I’m so sorry to hear of your loss, Amberly. It’s so true about how much treasure is stored up in each individual. By the time I was digging into my genealogy, I had no one to ask and no one had been a writer. What little writing of memories I have found are treasured.

  5. Sorry to hear of your loss. I don’t know you personally but always enjoy reading your interesting posts and looking at your gorgeous photographs. You always inspire me to research and record more stories while I can.
    Take care.
