Trove

Recently I was tidying up some loose ends in my tree and found myself in need of an obituary for a Scottish man who died in Australia.  A few clicks later and I was using Trove for the first time.

Trove is run by the National Library of Australia and contains oodles of Australian information for FREE!  It only took a minute to familiarize myself enough to find the very item I was looking for.

MACKIE, Robert, 1935 ObituaryHappy day!

If you have some Australian connections in your tree, give Trove a try.

    1. It was a happy little find for me. I love it when I need a specific item and find a way to get it for free online. Now if only I had more Australian connections to use it on… 🙂

  1. That’s so neat!! I don’t think I have any connections to Australia….but if I come across one, I’ll have to remember Trove!

  2. Always been envious of TROVE. I wish the US had a consolidated newspaper archive. I know we are working in it, but the Library of Congress has huge gaps.

    1. I couldn’t agree more – I was pretty jealous when I saw what they have put together. I have so few Australian connections that I don’t think I’ll get a lot of use out of it but I was certainly happy to find the obit I needed very quickly.
